Shirley Turchet first ‘took up’ art upon her retirement from teaching High School & College English in 2004. She studied drawing with Judy Grieve and watercolour with Judith Livingston and now participates in workshops with recognized artists through the Haliburton School of the Arts and The Schoolhouse Group of Artists. Often using her travel photos as reference, she tries to capture the feeling of a moment or scene, enjoying experimenting in various media, acrylic and collage – as well as more abstract works.
She has donated works to charity auctions, including Unionville’s Varley Gallery.
